We all know that being in the garden is one of the happiest places on earth. However, mid/late summer it is not always sunshine and rainbows! Often times it's aphids and bud worms.
PLEASE DON'T LOSE HEART!
We have the tools you need to quickly and swiftly remedy these issues without taking up too much of your time. A few minutes of action can equal 3, maybe even 4 more months of happiness in the garden! Here are some key points in understanding pest control:
- Before anything, regular watering and fertilizing is key in combating bugs. Just like humans will get sick much easier if they aren't eating or hydrating properly, the same is true with plants.
- Sometimes, even with healthy plants, the weather/humidity/cool-warm fluctuations, and past winters can play a role in pests.
- The first sign you have pests is usually a decrease in blooms.
Here are two most common pests in our area, and how to identify:
- BUD WORMS: Look closely at the leaves. Are there tiny black droppings, or holes in the unopened buds? This is a sign of bud worms. Bud worms =BT spray.
- APHIDS: Is your plant super sticky and covered in light green teeny small bugs? This is a sign of aphids. Aphids = neem oil or 3 in 1 spray.
A quick, thorough application will make a massive difference in your plant health! You may need to repeat application every 7-10 days for deep infestations. We also do recommend preventative spray for bud worms if you have been susceptible to them in the past. The spray is completely safe for pollinators and beneficial insects, so we feel great about it's usage. Come on in and see us, we will help you find the correct remedy for whatever pests you may be experiencing!
